As JA was wrapping up for Spring Break March 5 and 6, the Jackson Academy faculty and staff heard presentations by Dr. Rob Evans, a clinical and organizational psychologist and Executive Director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Mass. He spoke in the Performing Arts Center on the theme of change in education.

Dr. Evans addressed nationwide educational change and current cultural challenges, as well as how these changes specifically affect independent schools and the families within independent schools. He gave faculty and staff strategies for addressing change in independent schools.

Congratulations to senior Paige Rogers who was recently selected as one of 20 Metro Christian Living “Christian Leaders of the Future.” Over 100 high school seniors from more than 35 different schools submitted essays about their faith and leadership. Paige’s essay included information about living out her faith through six years of volunteer service at Neighborhood Christian Center, her favorite scripture, and comments about living a distinctly Christian life in a world that is hostile to the Christian faith.

After reading the book Charlotte’s Web, third grade students invited their parents to a picnic with a County Fair theme from the story. The families met in the Activities Building and enjoyed lunch. During the morning, students participated in some old fashioned style of relay events including wheelbarrow and potato sack races.
