Baseball Home Opener Postponed

Due to possible severe weather on Thursday, the JA Home Opener vs Canton has been rescheduled for Friday at 4pm at Raider Field. There will be no JV game played.

6th Graders Invited to Track & Field

6th graders are eligible to participate in Track and Field at JA.  Practice starts Monday the 24th at Raider Park from 3:20 to a little after 4:00 Monday and Wednesday.   We have a shuttle that runs from the Administration Horseshoe on Sheffield at 3:15.  Normally 6th graders will change after school in locker rooms or bathrooms and then catch the shuttle to the track.  We are not able to shuttle them back to school after practice, so they will need to be picked up at the track after 4:00.  Any practice cancellations due to weather will be announced over the intercom and through email.  It will also be posted on the JA track Web page.

All 6th graders participating will be evaluated in the 100 meters, 300 meters and 800 meters over the first couple practices.  If their times reach certain criteria, they have the possibility of being asked to practice Monday through Friday with the Junior high team Grades 7-9.  In the past few years, we usually have 5-6 girls that are asked to move up and 3-4 boys.  If you are not asked to move up to the Jr. High team, you are not cut.  You just will practice 2 days a week instead of 5.   We will have 2-3 meets in late March early April that will consist of only 6th graders.  This gives them an opportunity to have some success against their peers and hopefully prepares them for next year when they are a little bigger faster and stronger.

If you have any further questions, you can contact Coach Jason Williams at  jwilliams@jacksonacademy.org.

Spring Softball Mini-Season

Lady Raider Softball will be holding a spring Junior Varsity mini-season. Female students aged 12-17 interested in playing recreational softball can participate with other JA students in recreational league softball, coached by Head Coach Will Whitehead. This will compliment Lady Raider Softball’s normal spring training. For more information contact Coach Whitehead at wwhitehead@jacksonacademy.org or Coach Aimee Plunkett at aplunkett@jacksonacademy.org.
