JAA

The Jackson Academy Association (JAA) is the parent association for Jackson Academy.

The JAA provides volunteers and financial support for educational tools in our K2-12 classrooms as well as many other benefits to our students and faculty. Focused on building fellowship and enabling growth, the JAA enhances the overall educational experience. The following is an overview of our JAA hosted events, programs, and financial contributions for Jackson Academy.

JAA Mission Statement

To promote the unity of spirit among parents, faculty, and students concerning the school’s goals and achievements; to encourage the involvement of all parents in association-sponsored activities, and to provide enrichment, parent support and financial assistance where needed to enhance the overall educational experience of all students.

We hope you will make plans to attend our JAA sponsored events throughout the year!

Student Receptions & Parties

Student Receptions

The JAA hosts many receptions and parties for students throughout the school year. These include welcome receptions for new JA students, preschool tea parties and a Christmas Open House, Book Buddy & Raider Reader parties, and receptions for graduation and class day.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Activities

Staff Appreciation

The JAA appreciates our faculty and staff. To show our appreciation, annual lunches and events are hosted by the JAA. From Christmas goodies in the break room to meals provided during Teacher Work Week, the JAA works hard to keep our faculty and staff happy and healthy!

College Preparation

College Preparation

The JAA enables twelfth grade students to prepare for college by hosting a College Fair and ACT prep classes. The College Fair provides students with enrollment information on top colleges. The ACT prep classes help to prepare students to take their ACT exam for college entry.

JA Cares

JAA Cares

Through JA Cares, the JAA is able to reach out to JA families and faculty in times of need. Whether it’s surgery, extended illness, loss of a loved one or the celebration of a new life, JA Cares provides support for our JA families at times when they need it the most.

School Supplies

School Supplies

The JAA makes shopping for school supplies simple! Parents with children in Grades 1-8 can pre-order required school supplies. Supplies for Grades 1-6 will be delivered to your child’s classroom, and supplies for Grades 7-8 will be delivered directly to your home.

Additional Programs

JAA

In addition to the above programs, the JAA provides support in many other areas. These areas include performing arts programs, assistance with vision, speech, and hearing testing for students, the publication of Images, the student literary magazine, and much more.

Contributions

Learning Commons Project

The JAA has pledged the largest, single commitment of $300,000 toward the Learning Commons renovation project. This project includes the renovation of the Upper School library at Jackson Academy into a multifunctional Learning Commons, a central hub for student learning, collaboration, technology and innovation.

C.A.R.E. Grants

C.A.R.E. (Classroom Academic and Resources Enhancement) Grants are provided by the JAA to our classrooms for projects, equipment, materials, field trips, and programs. These grants enrich and enhance the educational experience of our students. Individual teachers, groups of teachers, or departments may submit grant requests. There is no limit on the number of applications a teacher may submit, whether individually or in groups. There is a monetary cap awarded for each application. Award announcements are made at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon every other March. Download the C.A.R.E. Grant Application

The 21st Century Learning Initiative

The JAA provided a significant contribution to our school’s 21st Century Learning Initiative. The transformation to a digital learning environment for all students started in 2012 thus preparing students for 21st century citizenship. Partnering with Apple, Jackson Academy now has achieved 1:1 status for all students and is at the forefront of technology, using it as a tool to foster 21st century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

Jernberg Scholarship

The JAA has provided a significant contribution to the Jernberg Scholarship in 2014. The Jernberg Scholarship, created in honor of former Headmaster and President Peter Jernberg, is a competitive scholarship that provides full tuition and fees (includes select fees in school sponsored clubs, activities, and sports) to exceptionally gifted students who have some demonstrated financial need. The scholarship helps students entering fifth through eleventh grade, who demonstrate outstanding academic success and motivation to excel in a challenging, innovative environment, obtain a Jackson Academy education.

Enhancements to Raider Field

The JAA partnered with the Jackson Academy Athletic Booster Club to contribute together over $300,000 to the resurfacing of Raider Field. Raider Field is used in many aspects of the school and will benefit many students in the JA community. This project will be complete by the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
