Support Services

“Empowering students to unleash their potential for optimal achievement.”

Jackson Academy is committed to meeting students where they are and facilitating their development in the Lower School into independent, successful learners.

The learning environment at JA is one built around a team approach, meaning students, parents, teachers, support personnel and outside professionals all work together to meet each individual’s needs.

When a teacher determines a student may need assistance beyond what he or she can provide, the issue is addressed with the appropriate team of parents, advisors, support personnel, and administration. Communication among all parties is timely, frequent and detailed.

Together, this team works to provide students with the following:

  • Diagnostic testing
  • Resource classes for remediation and reinforcement
  • Study skills and brain-based learning activities
  • Educational counseling
  • Group guidance activities geared toward healthy choices

Academic Resource Center

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) at Jackson Academy provides assistance to students with learning differences. Eligible students receive help in a small group setting with major academic subjects and study skills. Appropriate accommodations are provided on an individual basis. Each student must have current testing on file in the Student Support Services office.
